I woke up with renewed energy and motivation after my rest day, although my sugars were still running high. The morning was spent doing the tasks I didn’t have the willpower for yesterday – washing, blogging, logistics etc. Sometimes I just need an off day to reinvigorate myself.

It was great to get paddling again and a lovely tailwind blew me along. I had some close encounters with out of control cruisers being driven by tourists. The views only got better as the hills became closer.

I’m only about 2 days away from the Med now, and must say that I can’t wait for salty water again! I’ll probably miss the convenience of the canal and get fed up with sand, but a surf ski is most at home on the sea. There’s been some online discussion about which way I’ll turn. I can reveal it will be left – the next stage of the journey will be along the French coast to Italy!
